Amazon Renews 'Reacher' for Season 6 Before Season 5 Airs

Prime Video has renewed "Reacher" for a sixth season while Season 5 is still in production in Toronto.

The pickup extends one of Amazon's most reliable performers. Season 4 drew 66 million viewers globally within 28 days of its Aug. 12 launch, according to Amazon, and now ranks among the top five most-viewed seasons of any original series on Prime Video. The eight-episode season aired its finale on Sept. 16. Across all seasons, the show has reached 200 million viewers worldwide to date.

Amazon MGM Studios is also expanding the franchise. Prime Video recently released the first season of the spinoff "Neagley," starring Maria Sten.

Season 4 adapted Lee Child's novel "Gone Tomorrow," in which Reacher is caught in a deadly game after a chance encounter with a distraught stranger on a subway. Alan Ritchson led a cast that included Chris Marquette, Sydelle Noel, Agnez Mo, Anggun, Kevin Weisman, Marc Blucas, Kevin Corrigan and Kathleen Robertson.

Season 5 is based on Child's book "Make Me." The series has been a consistent hit for Amazon since launching in 2022.

Nick Santora writes the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner. Child and Ritchson executive produce alongside Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, Lisa Kussner, Sam Hill, and Amy Pocha and Seth Cohen. Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid are the executives-in-charge for Paramount Television Studios, which produces with Amazon MGM Studios.

The early renewal means the Jack Reacher franchise will run at least through a sixth season, with the "Neagley" spinoff giving Amazon two series built on Child's novels at once.
