John Mayer Will Return to the Sphere in 2027 With Three Shows in One

John Mayer will play the Sphere in Las Vegas in April 2027, his first solo run at the venue and his first live reunion with the John Mayer Trio since 2023.

The residency will split each night into three distinct sets. Mayer will perform alone, backed by a full band, and with the John Mayer Trio — the blues-rock outfit he fronts with bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Steve Jordan. The solo portion will feature Mayer primarily on acoustic guitar, with occasional turns on piano and electric guitar.

The run opens April 8, with additional shows on April 10, 11, 15, 17 and 18 — six performances in total. A pre-sale begins October 7 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET, with registration open now at noon on Mayer's website. General ticket sales start October 9 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET.

Mayer knows the Sphere well, though never before under his own name. He played two residencies there with Dead and Company in 2024 and 2025. The 2025 dates turned out to be among the Grateful Dead offshoot's final performances: Bob Weir died in January.

Dead and Company has been one of Mayer's principal projects in recent years, but he has kept his solo career active. In 2025 he played a handful of international dates and several intimate club shows in the U.S., and he appeared at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Austin on September 26 and 27. His most recent solo album remains Sob Rock, released in 2021.

The 2027 residency gives Mayer the rare chance to survey his whole catalogue — solo hits, trio blues and full-band material — inside a venue built for immersive spectacle. Whether the Trio set leads to further touring beyond Las Vegas remains the open question.
