OperaLombardia has announced its 2026-27 season, a five-production lineup that will tour stages in Como, Cremona, Pavia, Brescia, Novara, Bergamo, Reggio Emilia and Ravenna.
The season opens with Puccini's "Turandot," starring Caterina Meldolesi, Libby Sokolowski, Baopeng Wang, Roberto Aronica, Eduardo Niave and Songha Lee. The production reaches six theaters: Teatro Sociale in Como (Sept. 24 and 26, 2026), Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona (Oct. 2 and 4), Teatro Fraschini in Pavia (Oct. 9 and 11), Teatro Grande in Brescia (Oct. 16 and 18), Teatro Coccia in Novara (Oct. 23 and 25) and Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo (Jan. 8 and 10, 2027).
Britten's "Death in Venice" follows, with a large cast led by Toby Spence, Mark LeBrocq, Dominic Sedgwick, Danilo Pastore, Xin Zhang, Eugenio Maria Degiacomi, Serena Pulpito, Dario Battaglia, Chiara La Porta, Ilaria Molinari, Fabio Sabadini, Federica Cassetti, Chiara Torosani, Marcello Zinzani, Renato Cadel and Marco Tomasoni. Daniel Smith conducts the production by Rodula Gaitanou. Dates include Teatro Grande, Brescia (Sept. 25 and 27, 2026), Teatro Sociale, Como (Oct. 9 and 11, 2026), Teatro Fraschini, Pavia (Jan. 15 and 17, 2027), Teatro Ponchielli, Cremona (Feb. 5 and 7, 2027), Teatro Valli, Reggio Emilia (Jan. 29 and 31, 2027) and Teatro Alighieri, Ravenna (Feb. 12 and 14, 2027).
A verismo double bill pairs Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana" with Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci." The Mascagni stars Clarissa Costanzo, Max Jota, Sebastian Catana and Marta Leung; the Leoncavallo features Laura Brasó, Davide Piaggio, Sebastian Catana, Lorenzo Martelli and William Allione. Catana appears in both halves. Biagio Micciulla conducts the production by Davide Marranchelli. Performances are set for Teatro Fraschini, Pavia (Oct. 30 and 31, 2026), Teatro Sociale, Como (Dec. 4 and 6, 2026), Teatro Grande, Brescia (Dec. 11 and 13, 2026) and Teatro Ponchielli, Cremona (Jan. 22 and 24, 2027).
Rossini's "L'Italiana in Algeri" will star Ilariandrea Tomasoni, Marco Ciaponi, Lorenzo Liberali, Chao Liu, Jaeyul Edward Kim, Claudia Belluomini and Marta Miccoli. Alessandro Palumbo conducts the production by Fabio Cherstich. The comedy plays Teatro Sociale, Como (Nov. 13 and 15, 2026), Teatro Fraschini, Pavia (Nov. 20 and 22, 2026), Teatro Grande, Brescia (Nov. 26 and 28, 2026) and Teatro Ponchielli, Cremona (Dec. 10 and 12, 2027).
The season closes with Verdi's "Un Ballo in Maschera," starring Carlo Raffaelli, Andrès Sanchez Joglar, Jun Young Choi, Alessia Battini, Ioanna Kykna and Yuer Ye. Andrea Solinas conducts the production by Roberto Catalano. Dates include Teatro Ponchielli, Cremona (Nov. 27 and 29, 2026), Teatro Fraschini, Pavia (Dec. 3 and 5, 2026), Teatro Sociale, Como (Jan. 15 and 17, 2027) and Teatro Donizetti, Bergamo (Jan. 29 and 31, 2027).
With "Turandot" opening in Como on Sept. 24, 2026, and "Death in Venice" running through Ravenna in February 2027, the season spans nearly five months and extends OperaLombardia's circuit beyond Lombardy into Emilia-Romagna.
