Oscar Winner Donna Gigliotti and Mike Farah Elected PGA Presidents

Oscar-winning producer Donna Gigliotti and Emmy-winning producer Mike Farah have been elected presidents of the Producers Guild of America. They succeed Donald De Line and Stephanie Allain, who led the guild since 2022.

The announcement marks a leadership pairing that spans two distinct producing traditions: Gigliotti comes from prestige feature film, Farah from digital and late-night comedy.

"It is an incredible honor to serve as presidents of the Producers Guild of America at such a pivotal moment for our industry," Gigliotti and Farah said in a joint statement. "We are deeply grateful to Donald and Stephanie for their leadership and dedication to the Guild, particularly as they helped guide our members through a period of profound change. The PGA has created a community that supports one another and a Mark that validates the work of a producer at the highest level. The PGA is dedicated to embracing new opportunities for producers while maintaining a commitment to the core principles of producing: tenacity, perseverance and dedication to all aspects of the work."

The reference to the "profound change" of recent years is one both leadership teams have stressed. De Line and Allain's tenure since 2022 covered a period of industry-wide contraction and restructuring that followed the pandemic and the 2023 labor strikes.

"Leading the Producers Guild has been an incredible privilege. We're thrilled to pass the baton to Donna and Mike," the outgoing presidents said. "They share a genuine commitment to supporting producers and the work they do every day. At a moment of profound change across our industry, the Guild will benefit enormously from their distinct perspectives, deep experience and shared sense of purpose. We're excited to see what they will build together and for the next chapter of the PGA under their leadership."

Two careers, two paths to the presidency

Gigliotti produced "Shakespeare in Love," which made her the third woman ever to win the best picture Oscar. She received further best picture nominations for "Hidden Figures," "Silver Linings Playbook" and "The Reader." Her institutional experience extends to the Academy: she completed a six-year term on the Board of Governors of the Academy Museum of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, serving as both Governance Chair and Finance Chair.

Farah's route ran through comedy. He began his career as Allain's assistant — a detail that gives the handover a personal symmetry, with the former assistant now assuming his one-time boss's office. He was Funny or Die's first producer, starting in 2008, and won three Emmy Awards during a nearly two-decade run at the company. His later credits include "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" and "@fter Midnight." He recently left to work as an independent producer.

The election of a film veteran alongside a digital-native producer reflects the range of work the PGA's Mark now certifies — a span running from theatrical features to streaming-era formats like "@fter Midnight."
