Rudy Polk Wins 2026 Bosland Young Artist Vocal Competition

Rudy Polk has won first place in Amelia Island Opera's 2026 Bosland Young Artist Vocal Competition. The company announced the results following the final round held Sept. 26 at Amelia Plantation Chapel in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Isaac Rodriguez took second place. Lazuli Bruno-Clark took third. Faith Collins and Alyssa Pimentel shared the Audience Choice Award.

The field was small and the stakes direct. Nine finalists competed: Maria Valentina Rodriguez, Kayla Nguyen, Alyssa Pimentel, Lazuli Bruno-Clark, Isaac Rodriguez, Faith Collins, Tom Ferrer, Rudy Polk and Sofya Vaziakova.

Three judges decided the outcome. Amy Shoremount-Obra, McKenna Slack and Toni Myers served on the panel.

The competition formed the centerpiece of a larger event. Amelia Island Opera staged it as part of its Bosland Young Artist Festival, which ran Sept. 25 to 27 and also included a lecture recital and a masterclass. The festival format gave the young singers more than a single shot at adjudication — it offered a weekend of performance and training around the contest itself.

For the winners, the placement carries early-career weight. Polk, Rodriguez and Bruno-Clark now hold top distinctions from a company that has made young-artist development a visible part of its programming through the Bosland initiative.

The results also point to the breadth of the applicant pool. The finalist list spans singers at different stages, from Bruno-Clark and Pimentel — both recognized with prizes — to competitors such as Nguyen, Ferrer and Vaziakova, who reached the final round without placing.

Amelia Island Opera has not yet announced the specific prizes attached to each placement, nor the recipients' upcoming engagements with the company. What is clear is the festival's shape: a three-day program built around a judged vocal competition, with educational components alongside it.

The 2026 edition closes with Polk's name at the top. Whether the winners return to Amelia Island's stage in future seasons — and in what roles — will be the measure of what the Bosland festival sets in motion.
