Sony Slots '24 Jump Street' and Jackman's 'Treasure Island' for Holiday 2027

Sony has set holiday 2027 release dates for two of its highest-profile projects: Ridley Scott's "Treasure Island" remake starring Hugh Jackman and the comedy sequel "24 Jump Street." "Treasure Island" reaches theaters first, on Nov. 11, 2027. "24 Jump Street" follows on Dec. 10, 2027.

Variety exclusively revealed in June that "24 Jump Street" was in the works, with Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube in talks to return for the franchise's third installment. Rodney Rothman, whose credits include "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," will direct and co-wrote the script with Hill and Meghan Malloy.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who helmed 2012's "21 Jump Street" and 2014's "22 Jump Street," return as producers. Neal H. Moritz also produces. Tatum and Reid Carolin produce through Free Association, alongside Hill and Matt Dines under their Strong Baby banner.

The Scott-Jackman pairing also dates to June, when news broke that the two would adapt Robert Louis Stevenson's classic swashbuckling tale for the big screen. Scott directs "Treasure Island" from a screenplay by Jack Thorne, the Emmy-winning writer of "Adolescence." Scott produces with Michael Pruss for his Scott Free banner; Thorne executive produces.

Sony filled out its 2027 slate with two additional titles. Roshan Sethi's thriller "The Surgeon" opens April 2, 2027, with Michelle Yeoh starring as a skilled doctor who is kidnapped and forced to operate on a mysterious patient. The coming-of-age comedy "Narcs" arrives Aug. 20, 2027, starring Mason Thames. Plot details remain under wraps. John Phillips, writer of "No Hard Feelings" and "Dirty Grandpa," makes his directorial debut on the project.

The studio also shuffled two previously scheduled films. "Grandgear," from "Godzilla Minus One" director Takashi Yamazaki, moves up from Feb. 18, 2028 to Jan. 14, 2028. "Helldivers," based on the popular video game series, shifts from Nov. 10, 2027 to June 9, 2028 — clearing the corridor that "Treasure Island" and "24 Jump Street" now occupy.

The dating signals Sony's confidence in both films as holiday-season event releases, and sets up a November-December 2027 stretch in which the studio anchors two consecutive months with a Ridley Scott adventure and the long-gestating return of Hill and Tatum's undercover cops.
