Peaches Reworks "Fuck the Pain Away" for New Hellraiser Game

Peaches has released the first-ever official remix of "Fuck the Pain Away," reworked for Saber Interactive's forthcoming video game Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival. Steve Molitz, Saber's music director, produced the new version. Doug Bradley, who played Pinhead in the original cult horror film series, contributes a spoken-word voiceover. The accompanying video is explicitly NSFW.

Peaches announced the remix in press materials and described how the project reframes her signature song. "With this rework of the track, it frames my song in a darker, more twisted world," she said. "'Fuck the Pain Away' is ever-expanding and now has new meaning in the Hellraiser universe. I'm in!"

Molitz, for his part, framed the collaboration as an extension of Peaches' provocateur legacy. "I've always admired Peaches for her fiercely unapologetic, provocative approach to personal expression… Blurring the lines between pleasure and pain, this track is a raw, abrasive, three-act descent into a hellscape of transcendence, excess, compulsion and distortion," he said.

The original "Fuck the Pain Away," released in 2000, recently topped Pitchfork's new list The 37 Greatest Electroclash Songs of All Time. The track has now taken on its second life in the Hellraiser universe, joining a short list of electroclash songs to receive an official remix at all — this is the first.

The remix arrives during a busy year for Peaches. In March, she released No Lube So Rube, her first album in a decade. She continues touring the record through November, with dates spanning the West Coast, Mexico, and South America.

The run closes November 21 at Mexico City's Corona Capital Festival, capping a year in which Peaches has pushed her catalog into film, gaming, and live venues across three continents.
